Canada's Tourism Industry Welcomes Pan-North Tourism Marketing Initiative
Ottawa, February 11, 2011 - The Tourism Industry Association of Canada was pleased by the investment announced today of nearly $3.5 million from CanNor in the Pan North Consortium to help market Canada’s North as a distinctive travel destination to potential travelers within Canada.
“This investment underlines the importance of tourism as a driver of economic development, both in Canada’s north and in communities across the country,” said TIAC President and CEO David Goldstein. “This new funding will help the Pan North Consortium to build on the successes they saw following their joint Olympic initiative last year.”
The Pan-North Marketing Consortium’s Olympic campaign was a finalist for Best Marketing Campaign at TIAC’s 2010 Canadian Tourism Awards. Through the implementation of an astute and integrated marketing and communications plan the Consortium built significant positive brand awareness for Canada’s North.
By incenting further visitation into Canada’s North, the plan and investment announced today will help to build on those accomplishments by creating vital economic activity and jobs, as well as a greater appreciation of our northern territories.
