Pierre Labrie

Former head of Quebec City Tourism

Pierre Labrie’s passion for the tourism industry developed during his youth as a hotel employee and tour guide in Quebec City, and has continued to grow for more nearly four decades.

Following the completion of his law degree, Pierre pursued his studies in tourism at La Sorbonne in Paris, and subsequently worked at the World Tourism Organization in Turin.
 
After returning to his home province in 1977, Pierre played a key role in raising the profile and economic value of tourism in Quebec through his work with KPMG and the Commission d’initiative et de développement économique de Montréal (CIDEM). In 1991, Pierre accepted the position of General Manager of Québec City Tourism, a position he held on a continuing until his retirement at the end of May, 2009.

Throughout his career, Pierre Labrie has been an active contributor to key national, provincial and municipal tourism organizations and associations, including the Destination Marketing Association of Canada (DMAC) and TIAC, as well as the serving as the Chair of the working group on domestic tourism for the Canadian Tourism Commission.
